ADOPTION PROCEDURE UPDATE:
The SEK Humane Society will be scheduling adoptions and fosters by appointment only!! We please ask that our community be patient with us during this time as there will be strict safety guidelines that we MUST follow and that our public MUST follow:
-adoptions and fosters will be by APPOINTMENT ONLY. We HIGHLY recommend interested individuals visit our website, www.thesekhumanesociety.com, to see a full list of our animals. You can also submit your adoption/foster application online in advance so we can start working on your paperwork to get you scheduled faster (forms are located in the "adopt" tab). Our phone lines are also back up running and you can contact us at 620-232-1840.
-these appointments are limited to residents in Crawford County, Cherokee County, Allen County, Neosho County, Wilson County, Anderson County, Elk County, Chautauqua County, Coffey, Linn, Labette, Woodson, and Bourbon County. Out of state adoptions are not allowed at this time. The SEK Humane Society board will be revisiting this procedure every two weeks in direct correlation with the County/State data and guidelines on the COVID-19 virus.
-once applicants are successfully scheduled, when they arrive at the shelter they MUST bring and wear their own mask. We will have gloves and hand sanitizer on site.
-appointments will have a max limit of 2 people allowed from the potential adopter/foster. Appointment attendees MUST wear masks and gloves before entering the shelter.
-NO WALK INS ARE PERMITTED.
Please remember that our facility will remain closed to the public (no walk ins/tours) however we will slowly be opening back up by an appointment only procedure. We know in some eyes this may seem extreme however many of our employees are at high risk with the virus during this time and we must ensure their health and safety. Again, we thank you all for your patience!
**The SEK Humane Society is currently near full capacity due to the high volume of owners relinquishing their animals. During high volume times, intakes may not be available due to the shelter being at full capacity. Intakes are by appointment only to help ensure health/safety standards are meet during COVID-19. If the shelter cannot intake, please ask Management for information on other possible rescue facilities.**
