As many of you have noticed from the HSUS's website, our organization is currently in the works of helping several beagles from the large-scale placement case from the Envigo Facility in Cumberland, Virginia.

We are currently NOT accepting adoption applications or requests for them at this time. Our phones have been constantly ringing from potential adopters for these beagles; even all the way from Colorado and Tennessee! This is fantastic news BUT, our community must understand that their health right now is our team's first mission. They have gone through a very difficult past and we will NOT be rushing this process to make sure they are physically and mentally ready to be available for adoption.

Once our vets and staff have deemed them ready for adoption, we WILL be posting a date and time on our Facebook page on when adopters can submit an application for them at our website ( Adopters at that date and time will see them listed on our website and will be able to submit an application for one of them.

We thank our community's energy to help out one of these amazing dogs but please never forget that our shelter is almost always at full capacity. We have so many amazing canines here that are also waiting for a loving family. Please make sure that you are not just adopting for a story; that you're adopting to add a new family member to your household and will love them and care for them in the happiest of times and the toughest of times. We promise a shelter animal will always pay your kindness back ten times over.

The Southeast Kansas Humane Society is a no-kill, non-profit 501(c)3 organization that rescues homeless and endangered pets in our area. Its mission is to eliminate animal suffering, promote the importance of the human-animal bond, educate individuals regarding pet responsibility and respect, and aim toward reducing pet overpopulation by spaying/neutering every animal that enters our facility. The shelter is no-kill facility usually at capacity with approximately 100 animals and we need your help. Please provide a safe home or donate your time or money to help provide care for these animals.

The SEK Humane Society is currently at FULL CAPACITY! All of our kennels and now lobbies are full of sweet canines that are looking to find thier new homes. Due to us being at full capacity, we can NOT intake currently at this time.

If you have been considering adoption, now is a great time as most of our dogs have NO ADOPTION FEE!!! We even offer foster-to-adopt trials with most of our animals. All of our adoptable dogs and cats are already spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. By adopting from our no-kill animal shelter, your helping save TWO LIVES. One for your new forever buddy and the second being the animal that takes in their empty space.
